How I got a Brother DS-620 Mobil
Scanner, with only a USB Inteface,
to work in Linux on a Kubuntu
18.04 machine.
- Before downloading read this
- Only installation via the command line
interface (terminal) is supported.
- Only English versions of drivers are
available.
- The information on the websites does not
guarantee the operation of Brother Linux
drivers in all users' operating
environments.
- Connecting more than one machine with the
same model number is not supported.
- Pre-Required Procedures (Linux)

- Requirement: Creat a symbolic link
before the installation (superuser
required)
- For Debian base distributions
greater than Ubuntu 8.10,
Debian 5:
- ln -s /etc/init.d/cups
/etc/init.d/lpd
- Pre-required Procedure (2)

printer / PC-FAX drivers
- Requirement:
sudo mkdir /var/spool/lpd
- if it doesn't already exist
- I don't think this is for
scanners but it does no harm

- My firewall is in the router.
I opened them in the router.
- I don't think this pertains to me
and I perceive a hole in my firewall.
I un-did it and every thing works
fine.

- Download the latest drivers
- Brother drivers
- sane-backends drivers
- sane-frontends drivers
- Install the Brothers drivers
- Check if pre-required procedures are
completed
- For Debian, Ubuntu
- plug the scanner's USB cable to
the scanner and the computer
- open the command line terminal
and go to the directory where the
driver is
- install the scanner driver
- from the command line (dpkg):
- dpkg -i --force-all
(scanner-drivername)
- check if the driver is installed
- from the command line (dpkg):
- Install the sane backends frontends drivers
- In the file manager, click on the tar files.
The archiving tool your linux version has
will come up.
- extract
- mine was Ark.
- For USB Users:
- Use your scanning application by a superuser
and try a test scan
- Use your usb-connectrd scanner by a normal
user
